The Making of a Nursery
Well we’ve been busy unpacking into our new home and with our little one’s arrival fast approaching we decided to focus on finishing the nursery.
While we were looking for our future home, I was already planning the nursery in my mind and wanted to put clouds up on the ceiling (and fiber optic stars, but Melissa has pulled me back from that crazy plan). When the home that we decided on already had a room painted with clouds, we knew it was going to be the nursery. Once we moved in, we noticed a couple of issues with the clouds on the wall. First, the clouds were painted on the wall back in Jan 2003 so paint on the wall hasn’t stood up well against a decade of kids living in the room. Second, there were several places where the most recent owner did some patch work on the wall and there were spots of a different blue color. And third, the white picket fence didn’t really go with our jungle theme. Pictures are below of the original room.
So we decided that we would paint the walls a light tan color so that it would fit more into the theme that we were shooting for. So I went to town doing around three coats of paint onto the walls. Below are the pictures I think around coat 1 or 2
We also completely redid the closet. Removing the old “system” that the previous owners had installed. Patching, painting, and then installing a new system into the closet that could expand and change as our little one grew to accommodate different stages of life. Below is a picture of the closet with the new system in it (although messy as everything was put into the closet so that I could paint the room).
And after all the paint has dried we put together the first pieces of furniture and the first look picture is below.
After a couple more weeks of putting the last of the furniture together and putting decor on the walls we have the final nursery pictures.
And there you have it. Our little nursery all put together. Now on to other projects around our new home.
